BEHTA 2014 Judging Process

All of our judges are required to sign confidentiality agreements thus ensuring the element of surprise for winners on the night of the Awards.

All Judges judge entries independently and come together on the judging day to discuss entries, however, their individual scores remain confidential and are not shared with their judging group.  Therefore, even the judges do not know who has won!

NOTE: Judges who have worked on, or had any personal or commercial involvement in a project entered will be allowed to judge but will not be assigned to judge the category that their company have entered.

Judging will take place on Wednesday 9th April 2014

Andrew has worked in the industry for over thirty years, having trained at the Savoy Hotel.  Before starting FAB! in 2002 he worked in Group Business Development  for the largest catering company in the country  he has a wealth of experience in top level catering consultancy, marketing, toursim, sales and event management.

Caroline Clift

Editor, Stand Out Magazine
Caroline Clift is editor of Stand Out, a business magazine for the live events industry. She has headed up the publication for more than nine years, covering live and outdoor events across the country and reporting on the issues that face events professionals.

MD, Frog Events
Franco has 24 years experience and set up Frog Events. He runs The Bath & Bristol event Organisers Network and also manages luxury properties.

Peter Ducker

Chief Executive, Institute of Hospitality
Peter is CEO of the Institute of Hospitality, the worldwide body for hospitality professionals.  His career has been in hotels and restaurants, he has owned a hotel reservations company and chaired a business measuring the environmental impact of hotels.

Mike Fletcher

Mike Fletcher is a multimedia content provider, social media strategist, photographer, freelance journalist and experienced magazine editor covering business travel, digital, media, marketing and events.

Nicky Harding

Conference English Riviera Manager, Riviera International Centre - Torquay
Nicky Harding is the Sales and Marketing Manager for The Riviera International Conference Centre (RICC) with 26 years of experience in promotion/marketing for conferences and events.

Lizzie Heffer

Director of Marketing, Thrings
Ten years in television production, followed by almost fifteen in professional services marketing has given Lizzie a particular expertise in events and hospitality.

Simon Jones

National Sales Manager, Butlins Events
National Sales Manager for Butlins Events, Simon boasts over 15 years events, hospitality and tourism experience representing brands including Center Parcs, Thomas Cook and Carnival UK.

Julian Kettleborough

Commercial Director, The Studios
Julian has a wealth of experience  including Hilton, Legoland Windsor, Malmaison Hotels and more recently Commercial Director for thestudio a creative and vibrant city centre event venue company  with locations in both Birmingham and Manchester.

Gary Martin

Gary created Zap Events Ltd a leading supplier of discos to the corporate market. Zap progressed towards Table centres and in 2011 created Table Art. Table Art has since developed technology to create a unique, reliable way to light centrepieces and furniture. It is now the market leader and several franchisees from Chile to Scotland!

James Morgan PhD

Consultant, James Morgan Associates
James is the affiliate chair of the International Special Events Society EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, Nigeria, Turkey and United Kingdom), and a visiting lecturer at the University of Westminster, teaching on the masters course in Event and Conference Management.  Until recently James was also marketing director of event staffing company Crewsaders.

Harry Murray MBE

Chairman Lucknam Park Hotel and. Honoured with an MBE in 2005, he was Hotelier of the Year in 1986, and has received two major Lifetime Achievement awards. 

David Morris-Jones

Head of Conference & Banqueting, London Hilton Park Lane
17 years experience in the London C&B market including The Landmark, Grosvenor House & Tower Thistle.  Currently runs the C&B operation with annual turnover of ?14m.

Alan Newton

14 years in the industry, holding senior positions with Zibrant and Grass Roots, plus roles with trade associations HBAA and Eventia, and now heading business consultancy ARNi.

Alan Norbury

Editor, Meetings & Incentive Travel Magazine
Allan Norbury joined CAT Publications as deputy editor on M&IT magazine in April 2013 , following a career in local newspaper journalism. He has since moved into an acting editor role to cover maternity leave.

Kate Norris

Kate has worked in travel for over 25 years with companies including British Airways and AMEX. She now co-owns Ellicis Hotels, representing luxury hotels worldwide.
